High Surf Advisory

🌊 HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT 🌊

The St. Kitts MET Office has issued a High Surf Advisory for St. Kitts and Nevis, effective from today (Thursday) through Saturday, 21st February.

Moderate, long-period swells are creating hazardous conditions, particularly along our northern-facing coastlines.

🚨 What to Expect:

• *Dangerous Waves:* Breaking surfs exceeding 1.8 metres (6 feet).

• *Hazardous Seas:* Significant wave heights of 1.5 to 2.4 metres (5 to 8 feet), with some reaching up to 10 feet.

• *Rip Currents:* These conditions are highly conducive to powerful, life-threatening rip currents.

• *Coastal Impacts:* Possible localised flooding and beach erosion during high tides.

🏊 Safety Instructions:

• *Exercise Extreme Caution:* Beachgoers should avoid affected northern-facing and rocky coastlines.

• *Bathe Safely:* Only swim where lifeguards are present or stick to sheltered beaches, mainly to the south.
