The Water Services Department wishes to advise the residents of the St. Peter’s area that the increasing drought conditions are adversely affecting the department’s ability to provide sustained water supply to the St. Peter’s area, as this area is partly supplied by rain surface water. A 50% reduction in rainfall in May of 2026 compared to May 2025 has resulted in significantly reduced inflows from the Green Hill Source to our storage tanks. Consequently, there is not enough water available to have a sustained supply.
The Water Services Department wishes to assure the residents that we are actively working to strengthen water supply to the St. Peter’s area by connecting additional water sources from the Basseterre Valley Aquifer and associated wells. However, due to equipment and material delays, the expected timeline for improved service has been extended.
As a result, WSD will be implementing a scheduled nightly water service interruption for the St. Peter’s from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. beginning 04 June 2026, for two weeks in the first instance.
While we do not have control over the significantly reduced rainfall levels, we understand the frustration of the water supply being affected and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
During this period residents are strongly encouraged to conserve water wherever possible.
The WSD wishes to thank the St. Peter’s community for your patience, and crave your understanding and continued cooperation during this time.
